A Heaping Plate of Trouble

Image
"The Vetrini  are pulling out?" Abbess Angelique asked in her thin, reedy voice She sounded flabbergasted. The other monks and nuns clustered around the large table in the Refectory , back at the Abbey of St Ursula , were also gasping in astonishment. In the process of completing their mission, and rescuing  Sister Clara , the heroes had uncovered some very important information, information vital to the survival of the Abbey of St Ursula and likely the entire region. Driven by urgency,  The Lady Jezebel had wasted no time returning, her crew cracked on all sail and made the short run from the town of Puerto Lejos back to the Abbey in less then three days. They had only tarried long enough to ensure that the Summer Gale  had made good on her promise and actually departed the harbor, to complete her contract and deliver the Abbey's cargo of supplies and weapons. But they had not delayed to escort the slow Galleon. Time was too precious at this point. Pi...

The Schism of the Sisterhood

Image
As told by Sister Clara of the Abbey of St. Ursula   to the adventuring party known as the Lords of Doom ---------------------- And so it came to pass in those days that the entire  Northern Reach  was overwhelmed by piracy and lawlessness. Pirate kings ruled over many of the islands of the Reach, growing fat and strong on plunder and extortion. Trade in the Reach was strangled, heavy tribute was inflicted on communities that could not afford it, and there was much suffering across all the myriad towns and islands. And still the greed of the pirate lords grew.  And as their numbers waxed and their prey diminished, the pirate kings turned more and more toward the  The Inner Archipelago  for their hunting and soon their depredations began to be felt even in  Haven Towne  itself. Even in the Inner Islands, trade was impacted, profits fell and the citizenry and oligarchs grumbled. Yet the Reach was too wide, too remote, and the pirates too cunni...

Fatal Attraction

"Oh Freddy you sing so divinely!"  the Fairie Queen purred, walking slowly toward the stage surrounded by her freakishly tall lady's in waiting. Fantastic Freddy had just finished his set and was taking a moment to bask in the applause of the crowd before kicking off his encore, when, shockingly, his eyes had picked her out of the crowd.  He hadn't seen Endelyn Moongrave since Skull River Bay , and had no idea what she was doing in Puerto Lejos, five hundred leagues away. But he didn't mind seeing her. She was just as breathtakingly beautiful as he remembered, and just as mysterious, the half mask covering her perfect face, lending her an aura of mystery. Freddy had seen a lot of extremely beautiful women in his time, but none of them, not Maria Cristina, Bella Bell, Sally Brown,  Lady Ophelia, none even held a candle to Endelyn. She was in a class by herself Dakhir had given Freddy a seriously bad time about his last meeting with the mysterious fey. "You acc...

The Problem with Paladins

Image
Those had to be the two toughest halflings Ricmo had ever seen, and he'd seen some fucked up, mean ass halflings in his day. They were tatted head to toe, and their scars had scars, Ricmo could hardly see what color their original skin had been. Even their faces were tattooed, each had a teardrop tattoo under their left eye in addition to runes and symbols. He was pretty sure those 16 hash marks on one of their arms was a kill counter. They were lean, solid muscle, dressed in dark leathers and heavily armed with a plethora of small, sharp weapons.  They lounged against the wall inside  Rough's General Store , like quietly coiled murder, while Whisperleaf and Dakhir talked to Samuel Rough, the proprietor. One lazily picked his nails with a long dagger, but other then that they were perfectly still, except for their eyes. Their gaze missed nothing, constantly scanned their surroundings, keeping watch on the cliental of the store.  The teardrop tattoo gave it away. Kneebiter...

Get Thee to a Nunnery

Whisperleaf-the-Sparrow approached the Galleon from the stern. The spell that the Caretaker had laid on him still burned in the back of his mind, like an itch, or a mental arrow in his subconscious. Sister Clara was aboard that ship. There was no doubt of it.  His companions were not far away, innocently piloting the jollyboat through the approach to the town of Puerto Lejos , just some fishermen on their way back to town, nothing to see here. The town lacked docks large enough to allow bigger ships to moor directly on the waterfront, so the larger vessels were forced to anchor out in the harbor and load and unload their cargo via smaller boats and barges. As a result a myriad of smaller boats crowded the bay, providing a perfect opportunity to blend in and not be noticed. One of these ships anchored out in then harbor was The Summer Gale ,   the last known location of the missing Sister Clara. And her current location based on the tickle in Whisperleaf's mind. Alter so...
